B.S. of Comics
10 minutes until B.S. time!

I'm going to be a little late (15 minutes maybe), and I'm feeling a little under the weather, but I'd like to be there if anybody new might show up.

[info]tormentedartist and I have been talking about a new format to the meetings. I don't think we're going to try that out today, but if you want to give me your two cents, now's a good time to do it!

The ideas are something like this:

1. We may need to move the official meeting to a new space. The Black Drop could remain our weekday/off time headquarters, but having a space that is more dedicated to loud comic production would be nice. So we need to find that space.

2. I think the first hour of the meeting should be dedicated to meet-n-greet and critiquing work. The second and subsequent hours to production.

3. I'd like to start an official artist directory. To that end, even those of you who have been members in the past but are no longer local are invited to send me your resumes.

1. I personally think that doing it in comic centric type place might help develop interest. Like if we were to go to Cosmic comics ( shudder ) and draw for and hour or two that might help create interest because you are right where the people that like comics are going to be.

2. Structuring things is cool, but honestly I don't know how well we will be able to stick to it. But this is a great idea none the less.

1. Makes sense. We might even consider a roving meeting place for a while, though that would require heavier marketing to make sure everyone knows where each meeting is going to be: Cosmic, Downtown library, Fairhaven Library, the Drop, Village Books, etc.

2. That's kind of why I'm thinking of keeping the structure simple. Drawing is the highest priority, but people have come to the meetings looking for critiquing and/or projects to work on, so if I dedicate the first hour to critiquing those who want to participate can, and then we'll have however long we want to finish our work after that. Also, projects are generally optional, meant to stimulate those who're out of ideas. Some meetings will break down quickly, but as long as we let that be OK, we can always go back to a more strict schedule the next meeting. Having it there as a plan just makes it possible for when we want it.

Dude! The Library could be the perfect spot! Do you know anyone that works there? I think that being a place that promotes literacy it would be a really good place...

I don't know about a roving meeting cause that could get really unweldy really fast but maybe one day at the library and the other at an other location.

Maybe we could have the after meeting at the Drop?

Ooh, an after meeting at the Drop... I like that.

I know some people who have worked at the Library. I can start there. They might still, after all, and even if not they can probably give me suggestions.
